RP96 – The 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has an inky ruby/purple color and a gorgeously sweet nose of creme de cassis and cherries intermixed with some vanilla and spice. The wine is opulent full-bodied with an unctuous texture and blockbuster finish with no hard edges. It seems to be on a faster evolutionary track than the 2001 but who’s complaining? This is still a 15- to 18-year wine. Readers who love the Bob Foley style of wines and there seem to be many who do should also know that he produces wines under his own name and is also the winemaker for Switchback Ridge and Hourglass two other up-and-coming estates.
