1997 Peter Michael Le Moulin Rouge Pinot Noir – 750ml
1997 Peter Michael Le Moulin Rouge Pinot Noir
One of the most exciting in California, this beautiful winery is owned by Englishman Sir Peter Michael. When he launched this winery, Michael had the foresight originally to hire the brilliant Helen Turley to oversee the winemaking. The current vineyard/winemaking team, Nicolas Morlet whom took over from his brother Luc, shares Ms. Turley’s winemaking philosophy.
The present as well as upcoming releases are irrefutably brilliant wines. Peter Michael produces amazing single vineyard Cabernet, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc as well. Peter Michael Winery remains a family-owned estate that is now run by Peter’s son Paul. Only a small number of cases reach the retail market as the majority are set aside for the mailing list and long-term restaurant clientele.

Rating | 1997 Peter Michael Le Moulin Rouge Pinot Noir The dark ruby-colored 1997 Pinot Noir Le Moulin Rouge (380 cases) displays tasty berry fruit, but gritty tannin in the finish softened my enthusiasm. As the wine sits in the glass, scents of Chinese black tea and cherries emerge. RP |
